SLOWdown is a work in progress. It was born in February 2010 and was Melbourne's first cafe restaurant focused on local seasonal sourcing of produce combined with sustainable fish and ethically sourced meat. With organic ingredients being included and wine and micro-brewed beers also being a big part of what we do, we know we're providing something that's better for you and better for the planet.

At SLOWdown we want to be more than a cafe. We want to be your daily farmers market. We want you to be able to buy our wonderful locally sourced vegetables, fruit, meat, eggs, teas, coffees, oils, even our special salt & pepper. We will soon be offering freshly baked organic bread too. So we will be your local baker & greengrocer as well as cafe & restaurant.

At SLOWdown we want to re-engage the person eating & drinking (you) with the producers who put so much love into what they produce, whether it be fruit & vegetables, meat, wine or extra virgin olive oil. Understanding the provenance of what you're eating and becoming a locavore, can be a very satisfying experience.

BREAKFAST: weekdays we provide a light, healthy breakfast menu until 11am when our brunch menu starts. Weekends we have our full breakfast menu from 8am.

BRUNCH: whether you want a nourishing soup, a healthy salad, some pasta or risotto, a lentil burger or you want eggs on toast, we provide you with a simple brunch menu focusing as always, on local, seasonla produce.

DINNER: our dinner menu offers you the opportunity to taste Victoria!

FUNCTIONS: we have spaces for small or large fucntions. From our own chef's table seating 8 to our private dining room seating 20-30, cocktail party space for 60-100 or our sister venue St Kilda MeMo which can provide a range of options from seated dinner parties to cocktail parties for 100-400 guests.

CATERING: not only can we provide you with a range of local, seasonal choices, ideal for a small business meeting or big social occasion at your own home, we also have a license to run a bar from your premises or home!
